South Carolina draws anglers of all varieties and stripes. It's many fresh and saltwater opportunities that make it easy to see why anglers enjoy taking extended vacations exploring the waters here. In addition to more standard fishing opportunities, South Carolina offers shrimping and other saltwater exclusive opportunities. With the appropriate permits, of course.

Military service members, seniors, individuals with disabilities, are all potentially eligible for discounts on normal fishing license prices. To see if you need the qualifications, go to the South Carolina pricing page.

Unfortunately, Lionfish have been found in South Carolina's coastal waters. Anglers fishing the coasts should have the proper equipment for dealing with lionfish and should take care of fishing anywhere they are known to be. Lionfish should never be returned to the water if caught.

Information on how to deal with this fish, and any stings resulting from an accidental catch, can be found here.

South Carolina requires all anglers age 16 and over carry a valid state fishing license.

Fishing licenses can be issued any month in South Carolina. They are valid from the date of purchase in the case of annual and multi-year licenses. 14-day passes are valid for the selected period of 14 consecutive days.

It is the responsibility of the angler to be able to identify any and all caught fish, follow state fishing regulations, follow bag limits, and listen to any temporary or local restrictions added on to state restrictions.
