With many of Nebraska’s fisheries under active management and conservation with anglers in mind, it’s no wonder that the fishing opportunities in the state are only getting better and more varied.

Nebraska is also one of the relatively few states to offer multi-year licenses to non-resident fishers as well as residents.

Better yet, Nebraska has recently implemented a mobile license program than including fishing licenses and stamps. Like a paper license, you are required to be able to present your mobile license anytime you’re fishing or transporting fish.

This does mean that you need to make sure your phone has plenty of battery while you’re fishing. Legibility is also important, so a highly cracked screen may be a problem for mobile licenses.

Nebraska also works to actively encourage fishing in their state, introducing programs like the Trout Slam to encourage anglers to set specific goals and increase their skill.

Anglers are first required to get a license when they reach 16 years of age. Younger anglers are still required to follow bag limits and other fishing regulations. Discounts and other special offers may be available for Seniors and disabled individuals.
