Iowa may be known more for being a deer hunter's dream, but it's a fantastic haven for anglers as well. One of the states that offer 3-line privileges, not just 2-lines, Iowa offers a wide variety of license lengths and types.

Residents and non-residents both are required to have fishing licenses once you are 16 years of age. Under 16, youths are not required to have their own fishing license. But youth anglers interested in fishing for trout are required to get a trout stamp in Iowa.

Minors and pupils of the Iowa School of the Deaf and the Blind are not required to have a state fishing license to fish.

Some other residents with disabilities may also be eligible for waiving or reducing license fees. Military personnel and veterans are also potentially eligible for reduced licensing rates.

Combination fishing and hunting licenses are also available in Iowa.

Like many of the more angler-friendly states, Iowa provides an extensive amount of information to their anglers. In addition to fishing regulations, fish reports maps and lake maps are all available to anglers who like a little more information.

Iowa also has an incredibly long list of different fishing locations for anglers of all stripes to explore.
