Delaware has a wide variety of fishing opportunities, including fresh and saltwater fishing.

Delaware requires anglers 16 years and older to have fishing licenses. The same requirement stands for residents and non-residents. Like many states, individuals with disabilities, seniors, and military veterans may qualify for fishing license discounts in Delaware.

An additional trout stamp is required in many Delaware fisheries if you want to keep trout or use bait designed for trout.

Delaware’s annual fishing licenses are valid during the whole calendar year, starting January 1st. It is the angler’s responsibility to make sure you have a valid fishing license before going fishing.

Delaware's fishing dollars all go back into developing and supporting the environment. It funds critical wildlife research, artificial reef creation and maintenance, and the supporting infrastructure that allows access to Delaware's water.

Most of Delaware’s licenses also come with a $2.50 agent fee on top of the cost of the license itself. The licenses also have a maximum cost, to help maintain fishing access.

Delaware is one of the most affordable states for anglers. Prices are angler-friendly, regardless of whether you are a resident or non-resident of the state of Delaware.
