fishing license cost starting at:
California is a destination state for many things, but too few people think of fishing as one of them. California is a fantastic fishing destination, with lots of opportunities and locations available for anglers to enjoy.
Residents and non-residents are both required to have a fishing license as soon as you are 16 years old or older. Seniors, veterans, Native Americans, and disabled people may all qualify for reduced fishing license costs.
Depending on the type of fish you would like to take, or the fishery you want to visit, you may need additional permits and validations in addition to your base California fishing license.
Spiny Lobster, Sturgeon, Abalone, and a few other species all require additional validation. Fishing rights may be temporarily suspended for protected species in order to maintain the Californian population of those species.
It is also possible to purchase lifetime fishing licenses in California. Some additional privileges can also be purchased on a lifetime basis, assuming you have already purchased a lifetime fishing license.
California does charge a small fee to replace lost fishing licenses.
You may also need additional license validations for certain fishing areas, or for privileges like fishing with two rods.
